130 W. Barstow Avenue, Fresno, CA.
The Fresno Housing Authority came to R. L. Davidson, Inc. to design an affordable housing community utilizing recommendations for “Trauma-Informed Design” to help create supportive environments for all persons, especially those suffering from certain psychological disorders such as PTSD and similar psychological issues. The approach realizes how the physical environment affects individuals and recognizes that design can have a physiological and emotional impact on the lives of many. The main elements of Trauma-Informed design include the use of 1) Light 2) Color 3) Linnear sight lines 4) Openness 5) Symmetry for simple and intuitive use.
